Coleman Ledbetter

Student

Music has always been a steady guide in the life of Coleman Creed Ledbetter. From childhood evenings around the campfire in Waller, Texas, he learned to sing and play guitar alongside his father and grandmother. What began as a family pastime soon grew into a passion of his own. Today, Coleman writes songs, plays the guitar, and sings in a style that naturally falls into country music. It is easy to see why, since the genre reflects his upbringing, his roots in Texas, and the people who continue to inspire him. He has taken his music to live audiences, performing in Lubbock, including at Bashas, a venue that gives opportunities to new artists. For him, music is not only a creative expression but also a way to remain grounded in the values he was raised with.

Those values began in Waller, Texas, where Coleman was born and raised. Wide open land, horses, and strong family traditions shaped his childhood. Growing up on a horse ranch down the dirt road from his Grandparents gave him a steady rhythm of life. His mornings started with ranch chores, and his evenings often ended with fishing or exploring the outdoors. From those experiences, he gained a respect for hard work and developed a love of simple living. Waller was not just a hometown—it was where he learned the values of responsibility, honesty, and community. These lessons continue to shape him in education, work, and personal life.

Coleman graduated from Waller High School in 2021. He began his college education at Texas Tech before transferring to South Plains College. He expects to graduate in 2026, with plans to become an electrician. For Coleman Ledbetter, education is about more than earning a degree. He believes in gaining fundamental skills that prepare him for life. He values the trades because they involve creating something tangible with his own hands. Training as an electrician offers independence and stability while still allowing for creative pursuits, such as music.

Beyond music and school, Coleman finds much of his balance in the outdoors. Fishing, hunting, and surfing are part of his lifestyle, not just hobbies. Growing up in Texas gave him a strong connection to open spaces, while early trips to Costa Rica introduced him to surfing, which quickly became one of his favorite activities. Whether he is fishing at a lake, hunting back home, or surfing in Costa Rica, time outdoors gives him energy and perspective to return to his studies and music refreshed.

Work experience has been another important part of Coleman’s growth. At Epic Energy, he worked as a construction assistant, gaining first-hand experience in demanding environments and learning the importance of teamwork. He also helps manage his family’s rental properties in Costa Rica and in Lubbock, Texas. His responsibilities, which include both maintenance and customer service, have taught him adaptability, accountability, and problem-solving. Each of these roles has added to his skillset and strengthened his persistence.

Service and giving back are also important to Coleman. He has participated in mission trips and community projects that reflect his belief in compassion and responsibility. Through UMARMY, he worked on construction projects to improve homes and neighborhoods. At a women’s shelter, he contributed to the construction of a children’s library designed to serve families. In Costa Rica, he volunteered with Cepia, a nonprofit dedicated to education and cultural development. These experiences reinforced for him that service is not only an obligation but a privilege.

Family continues to play a central role in Coleman’s life. Generational influences have shaped much of his outlook, and his dog, Lola, is a loyal companion, present whether he is on the ranch, fishing, or simply relaxing at home. Family and friends help him keep perspective, reminding him of the importance of balance as he pursues both school and music.

Coleman also shares his work through digital platforms. His website, colemancreed.com, as well as his social media platforms on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, enable him to connect with his audience and promote his music while staying true to himself.

Today, Coleman balances his plans to graduate in 2026 and begin work as an electrician with his passion for writing, playing, and performing country music. He believes both paths can coexist, one providing stability and the other fueling creativity.

Looking to the future, Coleman envisions a life where hard work and creativity come together in harmony. Whether performing on stage, working on a job site, or surfing in Costa Rica, he carries with him the same values of family, effort, and the outdoors. His story continues to unfold with authenticity, determination, and purpose.
